
The Ogden softball team earned a split in West Central Activities Conference action Thursday, June 25, taking Game 1 before falling in Game 2 against Des Moines Christian at Ogden High School.
Game 1: Ogden 5, Des Moines Christian 2
The Bulldogs opened the doubleheader with a 5-2 victory.
Lauren Mathews led Ogden’s offense with two hits, a run scored, and an RBI, while Adi Banks added two hits and scored a run.
Harleigh Janssen came through in key moments with a hit and two RBIs, and Aubrey Leonard contributed a run scored and an RBI.
Grace Christensen chipped in with a hit, and Sophie Seligman added a run scored as Ogden pieced together a balanced attack.
Katie Wilcoxson delivered a complete-game effort, recording two strikeouts.
Game 2: Des Moines Christian 9, Ogden 5
Des Moines Christian answered in the nightcap and pulled away for a 9-5 win.
Mathews tallied three hits, three RBIs, and a stolen base to lead the Bulldogs.
Dakota Jones added a spark with two hits and three runs scored, while Harleigh Janssen also notched two hits.
Christensen added a hit, and Clark Kruse drove in a run on one hit.
Jozlyn Wells and Sidney Crane each crossed the plate once in the effort.
Clara Kruse took the loss and recorded one strikeout in the start.
Lillian Janssen provided relief and added a strikeout.
With the split, Ogden moves to 15-14 overall and 8-11 in the WCAC, while Des Moines Christian stands at 13-7 overall and 12-5 in conference play.
The Bulldogs will remain at home tonight to host Avoca-Hancock-Shelby-Tenant-Walnut, which enters with a 7-12 record, in a non-conference matchup.
