The Boone boys’ basketball team kept it close in the 1st half but could not secure a victory on Tuesday, December 10, at Raccoon River opponent Ballard.
The game was tied, 16-16, after the 1st quarter. The Bombers edged ahead, 32-27, at the half.
Ballard broke open and at the end of the 3rd quarter it was 55-41. The Bombers ended up with a 68-54 victory over the Toreadors.
Tyson Shivers led scoring for Boone with 18 points and was a perfect 7 for 7 on field goals and made 4 of 5 of his free throws.
Braden Brooks followed with 13 points on 5 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 2 free throws.
Wes Van Pelt had 7 points on 3 field goals and 1 3-pointer.
Reid Carr, Hendrix Moorman and Shivers all contributed 2 assists.
Shivers also led the defense with 17 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal.
Carr grabbed 4 rebounds and 2 steals while Devin Silbaugh had 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
Boone is now 2-1 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.
Ballard is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Toreadors face Gilbert (3-0 overall, 2-0 conference) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 13, at Boone.
