Boone County Naturalist Alaina Allen Planning Programs for the Public

KWBG 07/14/26

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Conservation has announced that Naturalist Alaina Allen has joined the staff and is planning programs for late summer. Allen, originally for North English, earned a Parks and Natural Resources Associate of Applied Science Degree from Kirkwood Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Education and Interpretation from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Prior to coming to Boone County, she worked with WisCorps as a Conservation and Education Specialist at Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Allen says the Boone County Conservation Board has exciting upcoming programming! On August 15th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, she will be hosting a hike and craft at Don Williams Recreation Area to celebrate National Honeybee Day.

On September 1st from 4:30 – 6:00 pm, she will be hosting a Monarch Spectacular where people can help in citizen science by tagging monarch butterflies. This will also be hosted at Don Williams Recreation Area.
