Boone girls track competes at Jim Duncan Invitational

The Boone girls’ track and field team competed in a 34-team field Saturday, April 11, at the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

The Boone girls’ track and field team competed in a 34-team field Saturday, April 11, at the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. 

Jennifer LaMar placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 2.25 inches and followed that with a ninth‑place finish in the discus at 107‑08. 

In the 800-meter run, Reagan Morgan ran a 2:31.38 and Finley Houser ran a 2:39.59.  

The Toreadors’ 4×800-meter relay of Whitney Chesnut, Briella Johnson, Houser and Reagan Morgan finished with a time of 10:26.12. 

The 4×400-meter relay of Johnson, Kyra Darby, Finley Houser and Bry Morgan ran a 4:30.84. 

The distance medley relay of Avah Hayes, Bry Morgan, Johnson and Chesnut ended in 4:51.77. 

The 4×200-meter relay of Tala Wittrock, Halle Bailey, Taylor Arringdale and Mady Davidson finished in 1:54.07. 

The shuttle hurdle relay of Maylin Griffis, McKenzie Klatt, Kyra Darby and Hayes ended in 1:17.86.

The girls’ throwers will compete at the Bill Miller Invite this afternoon in Van Meter in a meet rescheduled from last week.
