
Boone battled one of the state’s top teams but came up short in both games of a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader, falling 9-5 and 8-5 at No. 2-ranked Carlisle Monday, June 8.
Game 1: Carlisle 9, Boone 5
Boone showed plenty of offensive firepower in the opener but couldn’t keep pace Carlisle.
Claire Hardinger led the Toreadors at the plate, collecting three hits, including a double and a home run, while scoring twice and driving in a run.
Brooke Weisbrod also launched a home run and finishing with three RBIs and a run scored.
Halle Bailey added two hits and an RBI, but Carlisle was too much to overcome.
Pitcher Kaylee Kuehl took the loss for Boone.
Game 2: Carlisle 8, Boone 5
The nightcap followed a similar script, with Boone again generating offense but unable to contain Carlisle.
Weisbrod had two hits, including another home run, and drove in two runs while scoring once.
Olivia Garver had 3 hits with two doubles and an RBI.
Hardinger had two hits and a double and scored a run, while Bailey added another RBI.
Kuehl also had two hits and a run scored.
Weisbrod took the loss, finishing with two strikeouts.
Boone drops to 6-4 on the season with the losses, while Carlisle improves to 14-1.
The Toreadors will return home to Gary Creasman Field to host Newton (7-7) tonight at 7 p.m.
