
Madrid pulled away from Ogden for a 10-4 victory in a West Central Activities Conference softball matchup Monday, June 8 at Madrid.
The Tigers struck first, pushing across a run in the bottom of the opening inning to take an early lead.
Ogden answered in a big way in the top of the third, scoring four runs to briefly swing ahead, 4-1.
Madrid, however, responded immediately.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Tigers answered with four runs of their own to reclaim a 5-4 lead.
Madrid added two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to seal the win.
The Bulldogs were highlighted by Sophie Seligman, who delivered a triple and drove in three runs.
Dakota Jones and Harleigh Janssen each contributed two hits, with Janssen adding an RBI.
Grace Christensen chipped in a hit.
The Tigers’ offense was led by Mayzie Surratt and Hailey Renslow who each collected three hits, and both players recorded two doubles and a stolen base.
Surratt drove in a run and scored once, while Renslow added two RBIs.
Tilly Sweet had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Ashlyn Burkhart had two hits, a run scored and an RBI, while Audrey Brown, Samantha Springer, Hadley Mickle and Kiera Alt all contributed.
Surratt also pitched a complete game and striking out three to earn the victory.
Ogden pitcher Katie Wilcoxson went the distance in the loss, finishing with six strikeouts.
With the win, Madrid improves to 8-2 on the season, while Ogden falls to 7-10.
Both teams are back in action with conference games tonight.
Ogden returns home to host Panorama (4-5) at 7 p.m., while Madrid travels to face Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center (2-8).
