
Boone softball opened its season with a 4-2 record last week, including two wins at the Bob Morgan Classic.
Boone 9, Southeast Valley 1
Boone captured a pair of victories Saturday, May 30, at the Bob Morgan Classic Tournament at Ogden High School.
Boone rolled past Southeast Valley, 9-1.
Makenzie Klatt had a pair of doubles and drove in a run and scored once.
Halle Bailey had two hits and a double while also scoring a run.
Brooke Weisbrod added a double, finishing with one hit, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Kaylee Kuehl pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to secure the win.
Boone 4, Grand View Christian 2
Boone also defeated Grand View Christian, 4-2.
Kuehl hit a home run while finishing with two hits and three RBIs.
Weisbrod added two hits and an RBI and delivered another complete game performance, striking out four batters to seal Boone’s second victory of the day.
Boone 8, Ogden 0
The Toreadors shut out Ogden, 8-0, in five innings Friday, May 29, at Gary Creasman Field.
Bailey fueled the offense with two hits, including a double and a triple, while scoring twice and driving in three runs.
Weisbrod stuck out six in a complete game effort.
Boone 6, No. 14 Grinnell 3
Boone’s season began on a high note Tuesday, May 26, with a 6-3 win over No. 14 Grinnell in the season opener at Grinnell High School.
Olivia Garver led the offense with three hits and a run scored, while Claire Hardinger contributed two hits, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
Weisbrod earned the win, striking out three in another complete game performance.
Ballard 7, Boone 1
The Toreadors faced adversity midweek, dropping a pair of games.
On Wednesday, May 27, Boone fell to Ballard 7-1 in its home opener and Raccoon River Conference debut.
Hardinger collected two hits, including a double and drove in the team’s lone run.
No. 6 Fort Dodge 11, Boone 3
Boone also came up short against No. 6 Fort Dodge on Thursday, May 28, losing 11-3 at the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.
Kuehl and Garver each drove in a run in the loss.
Now sitting at 4-2 on the season, Boone looks to keep the momentum going as it travels to Saydel (3-3) on Thursday, June 4, for a non-conference matchup.
