According to Ledges State Park Naturalist, Amber Piatt, the last week of June is all about the Strawberry Full Moon. The so-called “Strawberry Moon” may have gotten its name from Native American tribes because it arrives in June, when strawberry season is at its peak. But when the moon is close to the horizon, it also takes on a reddish tint, and in Europe, the June full moon is sometimes known as the “Rose Moon So Ledges State Park is celebrating and inviting you to join. You can put on your hiking shoes Thursday night and join them for a full moon hike.
Or, dust off your cameras and join them Friday night for a full moon photo shoot.
Provided campfires and strawberry s’mores will follow both night programs.
On Saturday, discover who eats the wild berries in the woods, and maybe even find some berries of your own to eat too.
