Coaches Corner for August 27th: Shawn Latimer, Boone Girls Tennis

with us on coaches corner KWB G going to talk some boom girls tennis today Sean latimer joining us as the tory doors get ready to uh... walkie will come to town here this afternoon we'll talk about that in a little bit man shine i know that the season always feels like everything's going on at once you guys have been super busy i don't know where to start because as much as i was impressed with what you guys did in pella i thought the boot invitation was pretty darn impressive yeah i you know if you're right we've been really busy i mean i don't think seems like we haven't had practice forever because we've just been having meat after meat after meat uh... boon invite was an amazing day for us i mean i don't think in our history we've ever not only want all the flights but we didn't lose any matches the entire day and and that's just you know unheard of we play eleven games total you know there's always some somewhere somewhere you know somebody doesn't get off to a good start and end up dropping one but man we just from the get go we just i mean it was just an amazing experience for us and and i said i don't think we've ever swept every flight before so that was a definitely a fun day for them all right so you finish that on a friday coach that you've got pelle the next day you had to think and this isn't i mean this is just human but you had to think okay yesterday was amazing what will i hope we have a good day today man you had a great day than that yeah uh... you know when we we weren't invited in the pelle invite to start the season and they had a team dropout so they finally invited us and i was a little worried about that just because you play all day friday and i got to go saturday into another full day event and especially with the tulip tough i mean there's probably six or seven of the top ten teams that are there so it's loaded with talent and yeah we just came out and and play the outstanding tennis and pretty much the meat really wasn't much in doubt of who is going to be the best team there because we had you know the most people rolling on and singles and doubles and you know it was just pretty obvious is going to depend on what the final team score but yeah what a great day i i think they probably rethinking inviting us but you know if we we ended up doing outstanding and that was a huge day for for boom girls tennis for sure i was just getting ready to ask does that make uh... invite next year not yeah they yeah they might rethink their decision you know not happening there yeah yeah well there's so many positives to talk about right now i guess we wanted to start with is claire hardinger and i just want to talk about her a little bit because shon i know here's somebody who uh... multi-sport athlete is doing two things at once again with volleyball this year uh... but really seems to be having a strong start yeah without a doubt this is by far her best year and and you know that the tool of toughly you know that singles draw it's one big singles draw so everybody you know there's thirty girls in one draw and i think there was seven state qualifiers in that draw for her to come out ninth out of that draw and go five and one on the day she beat a lot of number one and twos from other team uh... you know we're playing north folk the other day and the coaches like this is insane you got a four five and six that play one two and three i'm pretty much a lot of teams in the state and i said yeah it's not a bad problem to have yeah she she's been playing really well this year and and you know she's just getting more come on more confident every time out just you know being you know their second third year playing tennis you know is that the thing shawna i know confidence is huge when it comes to athletics but is that is that what's kind of really working with claire she just feels more confident out on the court yeah and you know i think so and she's kind of change your style a little bit to you know we her i think her freshman year we kind of were a little aggressive and then we kind of backed off and now i think we've got her to be a little more aggressive now coming into the net a little bit and and you know freshman year she got lobbed over a lot and got frustrated and and so kind of backed off it but now she's you know doing a lot better at picking the right moments to come in and and finish off the points and it's it's been working well for her alright so obviously coming up today we got walkie that schedule just keeps on rolling shawna the the thing though that i do want to bring up before i forgot about this is you guys are back in school now so that's been a little bit of a change have you noticed anything with the girls on the change with school and then tennis you know not too much i was i was really a little bit worried on month you know we played north polka just having so many matches in the night but most of them couldn't walk on Sunday and and i was just worried at how fresh would be and and i thought we came out and took care of business and singles you know and and i was really impressed at how fresh we were uh... we did give him kind of the day off yesterday just a kind of maybe try and get our legs back a little bit for today walkie is going to be an interesting match i mean they're a two-way team their records not great but they play a gauntlet of the best teams and in two way so i mean i don't don't know if you can really judge them by their record because they play the walkie northwest the valley is the johnston's i mean that's that their schedule would be tough for anybody to come out of those with with wind so it'll be an interesting matchup today you've got a lot of different teams when it comes i mean shan was that something that you really wanted to go after this year with with different teams from different classes yeah i felt i felt like you know our first few years we weren't quite ready to compete at the two-way level and i thought this year you know let's go ahead and and maybe beef up the schedule just a little bit give us a little more you know stronger opponent especially as we hit that head down the stretch here and hopefully that will pay off in the in the postseason for us shan is always thank you so much for some time best of luck with walkie and now we'll talk to you again here real
