Coaches Corner for June 25th: Lindsey Hyman, Boone Softball

joining us on coaches corner KWBG going to talk some boon softball today as joining us now interim coach head coach Lindsay Hyman joining us the Tory doors have had a heck of a week heck of a couple of weeks really and I say that because Lindsay and I were Just kind of Sleuthing and trying to come up with ideas on postseason now by the time this plays on the postseason brackets and everything will be out But Lindsay at the time that we're talking It's exciting to kind of look ahead just because you have put together a really nice season You have a nice resume. I know you've had a lot of fun with these girls this summer So now you get a chance to find out. Okay, everything that we did. Well, how do we get rewarded? And I think that's fun 100% yeah, it's been just a such a fun ride being with these girls and seeing their talents and seeing what they're capable of the Really the sky is the limit for this crew and now that we have everybody back and healthy I'm excited to see what we can do in the postseason. Well, let's talk about What's been going on this week and obviously this is the time of the summer that Everything's busy, you know, you're you're going from game to game. You don't know the last time that you ate a meal at home You don't know any of that kind of stuff But it's been a nice successful week and I want to start off with the end of last week a real nice victory against Woodward Granger Then you come up with a doubleheader sweep against Carroll Northpoke. I know last night was a wild one We'll probably talk about that here in a few but Lindsay It kind of feels like this group is is really doing a nice job of coming up with runs No matter where you are and I want you to talk to me about what everybody Always worries about where do I hit in the lineup? Guess what the bottom of Boone's lineup right now is on fire Tell me about the bottom of this order Yeah, obviously our top has been really strong throughout the season. We're so grateful for that But the bottom has really come through. We've got some young players really Helping us get some wins throughout this week Harper Keel and Tinley Williams are two eighth graders that have really stepped in and and helped propel this team forward Liv Garver has been playing a little first in DH and she's been really consistent hits the ball really hard When we need her to so really proud of the girls and it gives a lot of hope for Boone softball well, I think what else has been nice to and and You have to have pitching and I know that is something that you guys have Finally, it feels like and I'm a knock on wood here real quick But it feels like we got three girls were really confident with when they jump in the circle Just tell me Lindsay even the last couple of weeks how this how this trio has really stepped up and just kind of what they've met here The last three weeks Yeah, I think it's just they're obviously kind of like the bloodline of the team right What I've been so proud of them is their resilience man You can put any one of them in at any point and they just know here is my job This is what I need to do for my team and they just step up and they have been incredible leaders Responding to feedback. I've been very proud of what they're able to give us every night and being able to go no matter What we ask of them? Tell me about last night you talk about resiliency and and that man It cannot be easy to have to play a team Two different nights in a row and obviously North Polk and you guys it just it happened Just due to a postponement, but you played them on the 23rd and then obviously last night You had a wild ride and they got off to a real nice start Lindsay But here's what I wanted to talk about what was boy you get down You know seven to two and you're thinking oh boy and all of a sudden it's nine to two Tech me into the bottom of the sixth inning things got a little wild, huh? Oh Man, yeah, I mean, I think even going back to the Woodward Granger game We were down heading into the sixth and this has been something I've heard from a lot of just community members is This team is starting to show they're not just going to roll over we came back against Woodward Granger great job So showed some grit last night. I mean it was it was rough We're sitting there nine to down low and it just takes one person to kind of get the ball rolling and we ran hard We played hard. We made plays we moved runners It was just exciting to see them show resilience hit the ball where they needed to and get all those runs We made them incredibly nervous and I think too. That's something else that you always, you know I know they always say what can you take away from the loss Lindsay? I'm gonna tell you what I think you could take a lot away from last night. Oh 100% yeah, we learned a lot about ourselves Especially like what areas we need to really clean up to be successful in the postseason You take the good you take the bad and you learn from and that's what we always ask them is fine One thing you can fix one thing to celebrate and what you're gonna work on the next day I can't believe that this next opponent. We didn't see I mean I remember the game against Ballard back in May It feels like that was like years ago now, but that's gonna be your opponent here tonight And I think what's exciting too Lindsay is obviously they're gonna be different. You're gonna be different from the first time around I think the girls got to be excited about this one this evening. Oh 100% I know we were not Playing at full speed when we played ballard the first time. So I just hope What happened last night and throughout these earlier tough games is gonna fuel them to get the W tonight against Ballard We just hope we play boon softball and hit the ball like we know we can that was something that Lindsay talked to me about all fair I'm gonna talk out of class here real coke and I say that she said boy You know when we hit the softball we're successful and I laughed her and I said you might have just reinvented the wheel But Lindsay, let's be honest when we go back through and look at a few of the losses during the season It was nights that you guys were a little cold from the plate So I don't care if it's a screaming line drive to left field or if it's a bunt single get on base and let's see what we can do Yeah, 100% we've really been working on just pitch selection And what kind of ball we're putting in play and I think we're starting to see some really nice Adjustments from the girls in order to be successful when you go from seeing you know a D1 recruited ADM To maybe some girls that aren't throwing quite as hard There are some adjustments you have to make at the plate and we're starting to see the girls make them Well, I can't believe the next time we're gonna talk Lindsay, it's gonna be about postseason I'm sure I'll probably text you when these come out, but great week Lindsay Thanks again for some time on coaches corner.
