James Casey, 69, Ames, Iowa
AMES, Iowa—James E. Casey, age 69, of Ames and formerly of Boone, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at his home.
James was born May 29, 1957, in Boone, the son of James and Gwen (Wilcox) Casey. He worked as a semi-truck driver for Des Moines Asphalt, Manatts and over-the-road.
James was united in marriage to Vicki Gibson on February 3, 1991, she passed away April 19, 2018. He owned numerous Harleys and enjoyed riding them, along with driving fast cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vicki Casey; brother, John Casey and sister, Sandra Doxee.
James is survived by his sons, Dan (Lynn) Casey of Nevada, Mark Casey of Madrid and Matt Casey of Madrid; step-daughter, Stacy (Robert) Bjork of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Hannah (Kyle) Ewalt, Hope Casey, Henry Casey, Rylin Casey and Chase Casey; two step-grandsons, Dalton Timmons and Devon Timmons; two brothers, Edward Casey of Illinois and Chris (Jo) Capps of Ogden; sister, Jo Ellen (James) Wells of Boone; and his beloved four-legged companion, Sadie.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Following the visitation, cremation will take place.
