KWBG 09/18/26

Transcript

with us on her senior spotlight here on KWB G. Get an opportunity to talk to Boone senior Macy Chestnut. Gonna talk with her about, oh, we'll talk school, maybe some sports, some activities, just stuff like that. And Macy and I were just kind of visiting about to school. And I'll tell you what, Macy, you did it right. First three years sounds like you loaded it up because the schedule not too bad this year, huh? Yeah, I'm glad I took the hard classes. So I, you're so far has been pretty easy. That's great, that's great. So I know you're busy with some DMACC classes. Tell us what you're doing out at DMACC. I hear this first semester. So I'm taking three DMACC classes all online. So I pretty much spend my whole day at home, but I'm doing a speech class, an economics class, and then a stats class. All right, so I know you've done a ton of in-person, obviously, now you're busy with online. Do you have one that you prefer? Would you rather go in person or would you rather do online? I think I'd rather do online just because of the flexibility and I can kind of work at my own pace. And be honest, you get to be in your jammies too. Yeah. Come on, be honest with me, Macie. I understand it, I get it. Yeah. What's your most, what's your favorite class? Well, what's something that you're taking right now you're enjoying? I would say economics or stats. My stats can be a little confusing, but when it makes sense, it's actually kind of fun. And then economics is just interesting. I think it's something that will actually help me outside of school, so. I got you. Sounds like Macie, you like numbers, huh? Yeah. Is that something you think maybe the future career? Well, what, I mean, I'm not going to make you pick your career today, but what do you kind of want to get into? I think I'm going to do sports media. So right now I have an internship with running one of the high school sports accounts. So I think I want to continue doing that at Iowa State and then hopefully that will lead me to get a job with a professional sports team. Ooh, is there like a certain sport you'd want to get into or do you not care? Ideally, probably football or professional basketball. So I think I've watched those most. Yeah, so is this something where you're talking about like, if you did professionally, you do interviews with players and do like fun skits and kind of things like that? Yeah, I think, and then I would also want to run their social media accounts. So like TikTok and all that stuff too? Yeah. Okay, that sounds good. So, okay, give me the ideal job then. Cause you told me professional basketball or football. If I said, Macy, I'm going to get you this job as soon as you're done with college. Where do you want to go? Oh, I don't know. Come on, you got to pick. Well, there's got to be one favorite team. Like immediately I'm going to give you this job. Where do you want to go? I think the 49ers would be fun just cause me and my family watch a lot of their games. Brock Purdy fan, I'm guessing, huh? There we go. There we go. Okay, so what about basketball? Are we talking like NBA or WNBA? I don't know. I would probably say NBA. Okay. Set like same sort of like West Coast or you watch a different NBA team? Oh, I don't, I watch kind of anything that's on. I'll just have it playing in the background. So I would be fine with anyone. Okay, you got a favorite NBA team? Probably the Pacers. Okay, Indiana's not a bad one. That's not bad. Not bad at all. All right. So, okay. So we kind of said what you wanted to do, but I didn't really ask you. Where do you want to go? So Macy, when a diploma's in hand, what's kind of the post graduation plans? I'm going to go to Iowa State. Okay. And then get the, get the degree and a way we go to Indiana or San Francisco, right? Yeah, hopefully. I got you. Well, Macy, we talked about school. Tell me about activities. What's keeping you busy here this fall so far? Well, I used to do volleyball, but I don't do that anymore. So me and my friends have been going to all the games. And then we've also been going to the football game. So that's been keeping us busy. And it sounds like getting some shots up, getting ready for basketball season, maybe a little bit. Yeah, two times a week, we've been having shooting in the morning. Now, when you and the friends go out and do stuff, whether it be going to sporting events or other things, what else do you guys like to do besides checking out the Tory doors? Well, usually it's going to aims, getting a fun drink like either seven brew or hyper and then going to Target is usually what it is. OK, Macy, you got to tell me this because everybody wants to go to Target. What do you guys do when you're in Target? Because I swear you guys can spend like hours in there. Yeah, usually it's just going circles, finding stuff that we don't need like clothes. Would you rather do the in-person or the online shopping, though, Macy? I like doing the in-person so I can see everything. OK, that's fair. That's fair. All right, so senior year, we're almost a month in now. Give me some things you're looking forward to senior year. Obviously, I can tell that basketball season you're looking forward to. But what are some other things you're looking forward to senior year? Oh, I'm looking forward to homecoming, normal and prom, obviously. And then soccer season also. You stay pretty busy, don't you, Macy? Yeah, I do. So how do you keep things? How do you know where you're supposed to go? I always ask the kids this, and most of them tell me they just know where they're supposed to go. Do you have like a planner? Do you keep things in your phone? How do you know where you're supposed to go every day? I started off the year with a planner, but I just never really opened it just because it was in my bag and it was not convenient. So I started using sticky notes, and I'll just put each of my classes down with the due dates next to them, and then I'll just stick it onto my computer just because it's easy to see every day. OK, Macy, be honest with us. Have you opened the planner at all? No. OK, there we go. I appreciate the honesty. I appreciate the honesty. So what do you like to do in your free time, maybe just by yourself, Macy? I mean, it sounds like you like to maybe watch some hoops and some football. What are some other things just by yourself you like to do? Usually, it's a reality TV show. I have playing on my iPad, and then I usually have sports playing on my TV. So I kind of do both at the same time. All right, Macy, you're going to have to tell me about reality TV a little bit. Give me your top three. They don't have to be in the order, give me three reality shows that I should start watching. I liked Big Brother and then Love Island. It was really popular this summer. Everybody loves Love Island. I'm not going to interrupt you, but you got to explain to me. Why is it just such a train wreck that you can't stop watching? Yeah, there's just a lot of drama. It's really entertaining, actually. And you're just happy that you're not involved in it, right? Yeah. Exactly. All right, give me one more reality TV show that I got to start watching. I don't really watch anymore, but amazing. Right. I used to watch a lot. OK, I remember that show. Yeah, that was pretty good back on the day. All right, good ones, good ones. OK, Macy, final thing for me. We're going to always ask a little piece of advice. And it's always always ask our seniors if they could give a freshman a piece of advice to have a great four years at Boone. What would they do? Macy, hook me up. Give me some advice. What would you tell them? I would say just not to take your time for granted. And I think a lot of people say it goes by fast. And you don't really think it does until you're in your senior year, and you only have a little bit of time left. So I would say, soak in all the moments with your friends. Go out and do all the fun things while you can. Good advice. Macy, thank you so much for some time. Best of luck. Rest of your senior year. We'll be watching. Thank you. You bet. Macy Chesson again, joining us senior at Boone on our senior spotlight.
