Larry Hook

Larry Hook, 85, Nevada, Iowa

NEVADA, Iowa—Larry D. Hook, 85, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Windsor Manor in Nevada, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Rev. Heidi Farmer will officiate. Visitation will follow the funeral, concluding at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026 the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Larry Dean Hook was born on April 11, 1941, in Sewal, Iowa, the son of J. Louis and Iva Myrtle (Roseberry) Hook.

Larry served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He served his Country from February of 1960, until his honorable discharge in 1984, and had lived in San Diego, CA, Norfolk, VA, and Long Beach, CA, and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga, USS Bennington, USS Chicago, USS Vancouver, USS Roark, and the USS John King. Later he lived in various cities including Perry, Humeston, Zearing, and Nevada, Iowa, working as a technician at Sears.

On July 3, 1966, Larry was united in marriage to Corina Jimenez in Las Vegas Nevada. They were married for 44 years, until her passing on March 10, 2011.

Larry enjoyed reading, fishing watching the squirrels, and playing craps at the casino.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Corina Hook, and siblings, Robert, Jerry, Anna Mae, Mary Lou, Gale, Shirley, and Phyllis.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick (Cathy) Hook of Lindenhurst, IL, and John (Kim) Hook of Portland, OR; and four grandchildren, Trevor, Jackson, Samantha, and Emily Hook.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
