
Madison Neely, 7, Boone, Iowa
BOONE, Iowa—Madison Marie Neely, age seven, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, surrounded by her family and reunited with her angel mother.
Madison, daughter of Justin and Melissa (Licata) Neely, was born on October 13, 2018, in Boone, Iowa. She had attended Ledges Elementary School. Madison enjoyed family time, driving through Ledges State Park, doing puzzles, playing games on an iPad, watching Bluey and the movie, Descendants. Her favorite foods were mac-n-cheese, French fries with ranch dressing and American cheese slices. Her favorite color was rainbow.
Madison was diagnosed on October 7, 2025 with Diffuse High Grade Glioma brain cancer, at the age of six. Madison was preceded in death by her mother Melissa Neely, and her dog Maverick.
Living family members include her father, Justin Neely and sister, Olivia Neely of Boone. Her grandparents, Tim and Bernice Licata of Boone; grandparents, Dave and Lana Comstock of Ames; grandfather, Kevin Neely of Boone; aunt, Sarah (Chris) Turbes of Pilot Mound; aunt, Jenny (Todd) Ross of West Des Moines and cousins, Lucas and Nathan Ross; two sets of great- grandparents and many great-aunts and uncles and other loving family members.
A special thank you to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s hospital, specialty providers. Mary Greeley Medical Center Hospice and Mary Greeley Medical Center Pediatrics team for the compassionate care they provided for Madison while in their care.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street in Boone. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 915 12th Street, Boone, with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.
