
The Madrid boys track and field team won the team championship on their home track at the Ron Hamel Coed Invitational Tuesday, April 28.
The Tigers finished with 133 points, just ahead of Earlham which finished with 127 points.
Caleb Berberich won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.47.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Sander Helson, Loken Velky, Jake Sawyer and Tyler Sonnenfelt claimed first place in 44.62.
Madrid also earned a win in the shuttle hurdle relay (Kinnick Grimm, Chase Perkins, Sawyer and Will Atkinson), crossing the line in 1:04.29.
Jacob Farrell finished second in the 100-meter dash in 11.35 and added another runner‑up finish in the 200-meter dash, running 23.15.
Atkinson placed second in the 110‑meter hurdles with a time of 17.24.
Grimm earned second in the 400‑meter hurdles in 59.74.
Jevyn Severson was second in the shot put with a throw of 53-08.75
Madrid’s sprint medley relay team of Nelson, Velky, Sonnenfelt and Berberich posted a second‑place finish in 1:39.23.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Nelson, Velky, Mason Morman and Sawyer also took second in 1:36.06.
Cavin Pehl placed third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:50.67.
