
The Madrid boys’ track and field team won three relays and placed fourth with 50 points at the Madrid Boys Relays Tuesday, April 21, in Madrid.
Madrid was led by the 4×200-meter relay of Sander Nelson, Loken Velky, Mason Morman and Jake Sawyer, which captured first place with a winning time of 1:36.58.
The Tigers also picked up a win in the 4×400-meter relay with Sawyer, Caleb Berberich, Henry Hudnall and Tyler Sonnenfelt crossing the line first in 3:38.22.
Madrid claimed another relay title in the shuttle hurdle relay with Sawyer, Chase Perkins, Kinnick Grimm and Will Atkinson ending with a time of 1:04.75.
Madrid added several second‑place finishes, including the 4×800 relay team of Berberich, Hudnall, Kris Petersen and Cavin Pehl, which finished runner‑up in 8:37.34.
Sonnenfelt finished second in the 100-meter dash in 11.45 and in the 200-meter dash in 22.89, and Jevyn Severson placed second in the shot put with a throw of 53‑4.5.
In the 100-meter dash, Loken Velky crossed the finish line third in 11.82, while Hudson White placed third in the 3200-meter run in 11:09.81.
Madrid’s 4×100-meter relay team of Nelson, Kole Deppe, Morman and Velky placed third in 46.55.
Earlham won the meet with 82 points followed by Nevada, Manson-Northwest Webster and Madrid.
The boys are next scheduled to compete at the Martensdale-St. Mary’s Co-Ed Invitational Thursday, April 23.
