
The Madrid boys track team won an individual event and a relay at the West Central Activities Conference Meet held Tuesday, May 5, at Pleasantville.
Senior Tyler Sonnenfelt captured a conference championship in the 200-meter dash, winning the event in 22.17 seconds.
Sonnelfelt also anchored the winning 4×100-meter relay as the team of Loken Velky, Jacob Farrell, Jake Sawyer and Sonnenfelt clocked a time of 44.45.
The same four were second in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:34.47.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Kinnick Grimm, Chase Perkins, Sawyer and Will Atkinson added a second‑place finish in 1:03.02.
Caleb Berberich placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.69.
Jevyn Severson placed third in the shot put with a throw of 53‑11.5 and third in the discus at 146‑2.5.
Grimm placed fourth in the 110‑meter hurdles in 16.12 while also earning a fourth‑place finish in the 400‑meter hurdles in 58.70.
The 4×800-meter relay of Berberich, Henry Hudnall, Kris Petersen and Cavin Pehl finished fourth in (8:41.43)
Will Atkinson placed fifth in 110-meter hurdles in 16.63.
The Tigers finished fifth in the 4×400-meter relay with Easton Halverson, Berberich, Hudnall and Peterson (3:42.99)
Hudson White was seventh in the 3200-meter run in 11:00.51, and Pehl was eighth in 1600-meter run in 5:00.95.
Madrid was eighth in the distance medley relay with Sander Nelson, Halverson, Kole Deppe and Petersen.
Madrid finished fourth with 80 points while Des Moines Christian won the meet with 151.5 points.

The boys will compete in the Ogden Co-Ed meet Friday, May 8 at Ogden High School.
