
MADRID, Iowa—The Madrid Police Department has released their summary of activity for the week of February 23rd to March 1st. Madrid Police handled calls from accidents to making an arrest for speeding and operating while under the influence. They handled a number of calls dealing with harassment cases and civil issues.
02/23/26
Officer assisted Boone County Sheriff’s Office with a roll-over accident North of the city on Highway 17. Officer kept the driver warm in his car until Deputies arrived and took over the accident scene. Another vehicle went into the ditch while officers were on scene. Officers gave traffic control while that vehicle was pulled out of the ditch.
Officer received a call from a Madrid resident. She stated that she had a new cell phone delivered to her residence this morning and was not going to be home for several hours and did not want to leave it in the cold and requested an officer pick it up. Officer picked up the phone and took it to the police department and will meet the owner after she returns home.
Officer spoke to a county resident in reference to trespassing a subject from her property. Officer gave her the phone number to dispatch so that she could speak to a Boone County Deputy who could serve the trespass warning to the individual.
Officer received a call from a business trying to get a hold of the Fire Department. Officer gave the rep the fire chief email and passed his information onto the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall.
Officer was dispatched to a fire alarm in the 100 block of Johnathon Drive. The owner was testing the system and it notified dispatch. Everything turned out OK.
Officer responded to a broken glass alarm at Casey’s, Officer met with keyholder and cleared the building, everything was fine, false alarm
Officer responded to a 911 hang up from the 200 block of East North Street. Officer spoke with the homeowners and discovered everything was fine, false alarm.
Officer responded to Meadow Estates #3 for a report of people not getting along, one female was trying to move out and gather her things, and the parties were calling each other names. Officer made arrangements for the female to remove the rest of her belongings that evening.
Officer was advised there was a suspicious male walking around the Dance Driven area, Officer made several trips and searched the surrounding area and was unable to find anyone walking in the area.
02/24/26
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Johnathan Drive for a smoke alarm. Officer made contact with the owners, and they stated that they were having an issue with the system.
Officer received two information requests from DHS Staff in reference to two subjects and addresses in the city. Officer forwarded them information on both cases.
Officer was made aware by dispatch of a speeding vehicle north bound on Highway 17. By the time the information was relayed to the Officer the subject vehicle was already home and parked. Officer did not observe any driving violations, no citation issued.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of South Greene Street. Parents called and advised they had an argument with their teenage son and he left saying he was going to harm himself, upon Officers arrival the teenager had returned home, and the parents requested no other assistance.
02/25/26
Officer ran background checks on three subjects who applied for a vendor’s license. All came back with just traffic infractions and were OK’d for door-to-door sales in the city.
Officer received a request from the Boone County Attorney’s Office for body cam video evidence from two past cases. Officer left the request for the officer that was in charge of both cases to be filled and sent to the County Attorney.

Officer responded to the 500 block of South Water Street, for a verbal family disturbance. Officer was able to calm the situation without further incident.
Officer took a phone call from a Madrid resident who had questions about a package that had some items stolen while being shipped from California.
Officer checked for a subject with an active arrest warrant. The subject is no longer staying in Madrid.
Officer responded to the 300 block of West 7th Street, to assist with a medical call.
02/27/26
Officer assisted with a medical call on Newton Road.
Officer responded to an address on Brody Lane to answer questions regarding a protection order and ownership of firearms.
Officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle Southbound on Kennedy traveling 56 in a 35-mph zone, upon investigation it was determined the driver was intoxicated. She was taken to Boone County Jail and charged with OWI 1st and Speeding
Officer was notified of a male in white shirt carrying a bag walking around checking on doors to see if they were locked. Subject was last seen around the area of Dance Driven at 1st and State Street. Officer searched the area and the extended area and did not see anyone walking. Officer spoke with the owner of the property and she advised she double checked and all doors were secure.
Officer performed a traffic stop on an Amazon driver who parked on West 1st Street. He was advised it is a heavily traveled road with no parking signs up and down the street. Officer advised he understood he was delivering packages but informed the driver he needs to pull off onto a side street when delivering.

Officer took a report of a possible stolen postal package. Officer will follow up with the postal inspector.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue with a medical call in the 600 block of Robin Lane.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue with a medical call 700 block of East North Street.
Officer took a report of harassment, Female advised her ex-boyfriend texted her after he was told to stop. Female was advised about seeking a no contact order against her ex-boyfriend. This is an open investigation.
