
The Madrid softball team lost to No. 1 Grand View Christian, 2-1, in a non-conference matchup Wednesday, June 24, at Hoover High School in Des Moines.
Pitcher Mayzie Surratt delivered a complete-game performance, striking out five in the loss and limiting one of the top teams in the state.
The Tigers’ offense was led by Aubrey Brown, who recorded two hits and drove in Madrid’s lone run.
Ashlyn Burkhart and Rylee Borcherding each chipped in with a hit.
Hailey Renslow scored the Tigers’ only run.
Madrid returns home tonight for a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader against No. 2 Interstate 35.
