Marleen Moffitt

KWBG 07/14/26

Marleen Moffitt, 90, Boone, Iowa

BOONE, Iowa—Marleen Ann Moffitt, age 90, of Boone, died July 12, 2026, at Northridge Village Care Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at Boone First United Methodist Church at 703 Arden Street, Boone, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Rev. Adam Gordon. A visitation will be at the church from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone following the funeral service.

Marleen Forsman was born on September 5, 1935, in Sumner, Iowa, to parents Darrel and Verona (Schutte) Forsman. After graduating from Independence High School, Marleen earned her teaching degree from Luther College. She taught elementary school in Minnesota before moving to Boone, where she taught first grade at Franklin Elementary.

Marleen caught the eye of a young Stan Moffitt while driving her 1955 black and yellow Fairlane convertible. The two were set up on a blind date, and the rest was history. Marleen and Stan were married in New Hampton on July 20, 1958.

Marleen and Stan raised their children—who in turn raised their own families—in Boone, where they enjoyed supporting their children and grandchildren’s activities. Marleen’s greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with them at home, in Clear Lake, and traveling the world.

Marleen spent years as an active member of the Boone NO chapter of P.E.O., the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Ericson Public Library Board of Trustees, Youth and Shelter Services Board of Trustees, and the First United Methodist Church of Boone, where she taught preschool-age Sunday School for many years.

Marleen is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharon (Forsman) Lynch, brother Darrel Forsman, and brother-in-law Clayton (Marjorie) Moffitt.

Marleen is survived by her husband Stan Moffitt; children Mary (Bruce) Anderson and Chris (Krista) Moffitt; grandchildren Emily (Keith) Walker, Elizabeth (Michael) Bohl, Charlie (Presley) Moffitt, Caroline (Alex) Samson, and Catherine (Ryan) Skotzke; great grandchildren Hannah Walker, Stanley, Mary Katherine, and Callahan Bohl, Calvin and Harvey Moffitt, Lucille Samson, and Sullivan Skotzke; sister Julie Farland, sisters-in-law Jan Forsman, Melinda (Ann Dunlap) Moffitt, brother-in-law Jack Lynch, and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the loving and caring employees of Northridge Village and Suncrest Hospice of Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Boone First United Methodist Church.

The Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone is assisting the family with the arrangements.
