Thirteenth-ranked Boone used a four-run sixth inning to rally past Woodward-Granger, securing a 6-4 non-conference victory Friday, June 19, at Gary Creasman Field.

After a scoreless start through two innings, Boone broke through in the bottom of the third with a single run, then added another in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.

Woodward-Granger responded quickly, scoring twice in the top of the fourth to tie the game before adding two more runs in the fifth to move ahead 4-2.

Trailing late, Boone delivered its decisive blow in the bottom of the sixth inning with Brooke Weisbrod’s three-run home run that swung the momentum in Boone’s favor.

Weisbrod finished with one hit — the key three-run homer — while scoring once and driving in three runs.

Hailee Bingham had two hits, including a double, while adding a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

Halle Bailey contributed a hit and scored twice, while Claire Hardinger added a hit and a run scored.

Tenley Williams chipped in with a hit and an RBI, while Harper Kuehl and Makenzie Klatt each recorded a hit in the victory.

Hadley Gustafson also crossed the plate for Boone.

Kaylee Kuehl got the start and recorded three strikeouts before Tenley Williams took over in relief.

Williams earned the win, striking out two.

With the win, Boone improves to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in Raccoon River Conference play.

Woodward-Granger falls to 9-11 on the season.

Boone returns to action tonight, hosting Carroll in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader at Gary Creasman Field.

Carroll enters the matchup with a 2-16 overall record and is 0-8 in the conference.
