November Jobless Numbers

KWBG 12/27/19

DES MOINES, Iowa—Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained 2.6 percent in November. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent in November.

The monthly information shows that both the number of unemployed Iowans increased from October as did the number of working Iowas.  Both numbers remained higher than those of a year ago.

This week, the individual county data was released and locally, Boone County had a rate of 1.9%, above Dallas, Greene and Story Counties with reported rates of 1.6%.  Hamilton County and Polk County both reported rates of 2.4% and Webster County’s rate was 2.5%.

All the county rates are up from the month of October.
