The Ogden girls’ cross country team opened the 2026 season Saturday, August 29, at the Dragon Invitational hosted by Johnston High School.
The Bulldogs placed 15th in the team standings with 443 points in the season-opening competition, and the 279-runner field gave Ogden an opportunity to test itself against some of Iowa’s strongest programs early in the year.
Senior Sophie Seligman led the Bulldogs, finishing 85th overall in 22 minutes, 39 seconds.
Seligman recorded a personal record and was Ogden’s top finisher in the race.
Freshman Kelsey Spencer finished in 24:36 in her varsity debut while also setting a personal best.
Senior Alena Wilson followed closely behind in 24:44 with a personal record.
Junior Lola Chevailler added another personal-best performance for the Bulldogs, crossing the finish line in 25:06.
Junior Rylin Casey rounded out Ogden’s scoring runners, finishing in 25:29.
Additional contributors included junior Addi Hunziker, who finished in 26:01, and freshman Ada Weaver, who finished in 26:17, with both runners recording personal records.
Class 4A power Johnston captured the team championship with 37 points, followed by Dallas Center-Grimes with 74 and Des Moines Christian with 81.
The Bulldogs will run at a meet hosted by Madrid at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, September 3, at Grants Woods Park.
