
The Ogden softball team swept Earlham in a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader Thursday June 11, at Ogden High School with an 8-0 win in Game 1 and a 5-4 victory in Game 2.
Game 1: Ogden 8, Earlham 0
Ogden came out firing in the opener and scored three runs in the first inning to seize early control.
The Bulldogs added single runs in the second, sixth, and seventh innings, along with a two-run fourth, to secure the shutout.
Leading the offense was Clara Kruse, who had four hits, including a double, and a stolen base.
Adi Banks also collected three hits, two runs scored, and two RBI, while Aubrey Leonard was a key table-setter, scoring four runs.
Grace Christensen, Harleigh Janssen and Sophie Seligman each had 1 hit, 1 run, 1 RBI
Dakota Jones had 1 hit and 1 run scored, and Lauren Mathews had 1 hit and 1 RBI.
Kruse got the start and struck out two batters before Katie Wilcoxson came on in relief to earn the win, also recording two strikeouts.
Game 2: Ogden 5, Earlham 4
The nightcap was much tighter, but Ogden held off a late Earlham rally to complete the sweep.
The Bulldogs built a steady lead, scoring single runs in the first, second, and fourth innings, then adding two runs in the fifth.
Earlham answered with two runs in the fifth and made things tense with two more in the seventh, but Ogden held on for the 5-4 win.
Christensen tallied two hits, one run scored and three stolen bases.
Kruse added a hit, a run, and an RBI, while Aubrey Leonard contributed a hit and a run scored.
Banks, Sophie Seligman and Mathews had 1 hit each.
Jones had 1 hit, 1 run scored, and Janssen and Sarah Seligman had 1 RBI each.
Katie Wilcoxson delivered a complete-game effort, striking out four batters.
The sweep pushes Ogden to 10-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play, while Earlham falls to 3-15 overall and 0-10 in the conference.
Ogden will travel Saturday, June 13, to compete in the Underwood Tournament.
