
The Ogden baseball team swept Earlham in a West Central Conference doubleheader Thursday, June 11, with a 5-0 shutout in Game 1 followed by a 9-5 victory in Game 2 at Ogden High School.
Game 1: Ogden 5, Earlham 0
The Bulldogs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, then added another in the fourth before breaking things open with two runs in the fifth.
A final insurance run came in the seventh to seal the 5-0 victory.
Ogden’s offense was led by Bek Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with a double, scored a run, and two stolen bases.
Colson Carson collected three hits, drove in three runs, scored once, and added two stolen bases.
Brody Burdette, chipped in a hit and Treyton Mitchell and CeJay Jones each drove in a run
Keagan Ristvedt had two runs scored, and Christian Thede had one run scored.
Jones threw a complete-game shutout and racked up 10 strikeouts.
Game 2: Ogden 9, Earlham 5
The Bulldogs struck first with a run in the opening inning, but Earlham responded with two runs in the second to briefly take the lead.
Ogden answered in a big way, scoring 2 runs in the third, 3 runs in the fourth, 1 run in the fifth and 2 runs in the sixth.
Earlham mounted a late push with three runs in the top of the seventh, but Ogden held on for the 9-5 win.
Offensively, Carson had 2 hits, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, a double, and 2 stolen bases, and Jones had 1 hit, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, and 2 stolen bases.
Ristvedt had 2 hits and a run scored while Anderson had1 hit and 1 RBI.
Logan Ryan had 1 hit and 1 run scored, and Brody Burdette had 1 hit and 1 RBI.
Thomas Bergstrom, Andy Fitzsimmons, and Ryder Hamil had 1 hit each.
Mitchell had 1 run scored, and Thede had 1 RBI.
Thede delivered a complete-game effort, striking out two.
The pair of wins lifts Ogden to 7-9 on the season, while Earlham drops to 4-13.
The Bulldogs will return to action tonight, hosting East Sac County (2-10) in a non-conference matchup at Ogden High School.
