Paul “Lindy” Lindahl, 82, Boone, Iowa

BOONE, Iowa—Paul “Lindy” Lindahl, 82, of Boone, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Eastern Star Masonic Home.

Lindy was born on February 11, 1944, in Boone, the son of Paul Sr and Evelyn (Williams) Lindahl. He grew up on a farm, where he quickly discovered his love of being outdoors. He began to hunt small animals around the property, fueling his passion he continued throughout his life.

After graduating from Boone High School in 1962, he attended Des Moines Area Community College. He married Mary (Wolfgram) on November 4, 1977 in Ames, from this union, one child was born.

He owned Lindy’s Guns in Boone, where he made friends with every law enforcement officer and gun enthusiast in town, until the business was sold in 2022.

Lindy enjoyed cars, whether it was building engines, flipping cars of all types, driving around the countryside, or watching races at the Boone Speedway. He adored his Corvette and his ’57 Chevy.

Lindy worked at John Deere in Des Moines as a machinist, until his retirement in 1996. He was very active in UAW Local 450 in various positions, along with Za-Ga-Zig Shriners, Mount Olive Lodge 79. Lindy and Mary were members of the First United Methodist Church in Boone. He had a variety of interest, which gave him the ability to shoot the breeze with anyone.

He was close to his mom, making sure he called her every night, and would sit down and have supper with her every Wednesday.

He is preceded in death by his parents; mother-In-law, Donna Wolfgram; father-in-law, Marv Wolfgram; niece, Sarah Wolfgram; sister-in-law, Beth Hill; and three brothers-in-law, Dale Hill, David Wolfgram, and Don Wilcox.

Lindy is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Mary Lindahl of Boone, IA; daughter, Heather (Micheal) Cross of Elmhurst, IL; granddaughter, Hadley Cross of Elmhurst, IL; In-Laws, Ruth Kampe of Clinton, IA; Harold Kampe of Fulton, IL; Louis and Kathy Wolfgram of Boone, Teresa Wilcox and Maynard Melchert of Boone, Jill Wolfgram of Loveland, CO, Paul and Rita Wolfgram of Webster City, IA, Gene and Debbie Wolfgram of Plano, TX, and Joe and Dodie Wolfgram of Webster City, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church, 703 Arden Street, Boone, with Rev. Adam Gordon officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choosing, in memory of Lindy.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Lindy’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
