On Monday, January 20th, the Boone Optimist Club and the Boone Area Humane Society teamed up for Rescue Readers. Anyone interested was encouraged to go to the shelter to read a book to one of the shelter cats and receive a free book to take home. This was especially great for kids to practice their readings skills and provided socialization for the cats. There were approximately 67 in attendance.
