
The Madrid girls track and field team finished sixth overall with 76 points at the Bondurant‑Farrar Invitational, Monday, April 20, in Bondurant.
Madrid was led by Paige Richards, who captured first place in the 100‑meter dash, winning the event in 13.32 seconds.
Richards also added a third‑place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.87 and placed third in the long jump after clearing 16‑7.
In the distance races, Madelyn Grothus finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.07.
Katelyn Brandhorst placed second in the 1500 meters in 5:01.63.
Lauren Dvorak earned a pair of second‑place finishes, throwing 37‑1 in the shot put and 130‑11 in the discus.
Madrid’s relay squads were highlighted by a fourth‑place finish in the 4×800 relay (Hannah Brandhorst, Charis Peasley, Grothus and Katelyn Brandhorst).
Additionally, the shuttle hurdle relay of Iyla Fine, Kiera Alt, Ashlyn Burkhart and Adelyn White placed fifth in 1:12.05.
Pella won the team title with 131 points, followed by Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and North Polk, but Madrid held its own against the competition from larger schools.

The girls will compete Thursday, April 23, at the Norsemen Relays hosted by Roland-Story in Story City.
