
Gabe Villalva and Caden Sprecher qualified for the state track meet as the Boone boys track and field team finished fifth Thursday, May 14, at the Class 3A district meet at North Polk in Alleman.
The Toreadors finished fifth overall with 89 team points, and Gilbert won the meet with 172.5 points.
Gabe Villalva secured a state‑qualifying finish in the long jump, placing second with a leap of 21‑02.25.
Boone added another state qualifier in the throwing events, where Caden Sprecher finished second in the discus with a throw of 135‑03.
Issac McCloud placed third in the high jump with his jump of 5-06.00
Jude Baumgardner finished third in the shot with his throw of 49-09.50 and also was third in the discus with his throw of 132-09.
The 4×800-meter relay of Dorian Myers, Austin Felder, Teddy Johnson and Ajay Braddock finished third in 8:34.14.
The distance medley relay of Ryder Hillsabeck, Maddox McIntyre, Clark and Myers placed third in 3:49.54.
The shuttle hurdle relay of Bodie Brogden, Brenden Hedrick, McCloud and Clark finished fourth in 1:03.99.
The 4×100-meter relay of Villalva, Hillsabeck, George Grote and Trig Nystrom placed fourth in 45.56.
The 4×400-meter relay of Clark, Myers, Braddock and McIntyre finished fourth in 3:31.17.
Clark finished fifth in the long jump with his jump of 20-07.50, and McIntyre was fifth in the 400-meter run in 53.94.
Javier Casiano was sixth in the shot with his throw of 43-04.25, while Calvin Cook finished sixth in the 3200-meter run in 11:43.24.
Felder was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:08.11, while Noel Malin placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.40.
The 4×200-meter relay of Grote, Villalva, Hillsabeck and McCloud finished sixth in 1:36.24.
The sprint medley relay of Hillsabeck, RJ Lennon, Nystrom and Grote finished seventh in 1:47.08.
Pearson Lampe was eight in the 3200-meter run in 12:17.38
Johnson was eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:08.61 while McIntyre finished eighth in the 200-meter dash in 24.20.
