Weekly Court Summary from the Boone County Attorney’s Office

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Attorney, Matt Speers’ office provides a weekly summary of cases handled by his office. This week included several cases where sentences were handed out.

COURT SUMMARIES

6-1-25 – 6-5-26

– James Lawry Kinsey, 44, Boone, was sentenced by the District Court following a guilty plea Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class B Felony. The defendant was sentenced to 25 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 15 years before being eligible for parole. The defendant will also be required to register as a sex offender and be placed on a special parole for life. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Eduard Nickolas Lester, 31, Boone, had a previously granted probation revoked by the District Court following a stipulation to having violated his probation for an original charge of Theft 1st, a Class C Felony. The defendant was ordered to serve the originally suspended 10 year prison sentence.

– Isaac James Kouk, 31, Boone, had a previously granted probation revoked by the District Court following a stipulation to having violated his probation for an original charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, a Class D Felony. The defendant was ordered to serve the originally suspended 5 year prison sentence. The defendant was also sentenced on a new charge by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 30 days in jail. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Jay Donnell Walker, 35, Boone, was granted a deferred judgment from the District Court following a guilty plea to Possession of LSD with Inten to Deliver, a Class B Felony; and, Possession of Psilocybin with Intent to Deliver, a Class C Felony. On the deferred the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, plus payment of a civil penalty and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Amber Lynn Beckett, 32, Madrid, was sentenced by the District Court following a guilty plea Child Endangerment with Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years prison, all suspended. On the suspended portion, the defendant was placed on probation with terms plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Madrid Police Department.

– Christian Alexander Caruth, 28, Boone, was held in Contempt by the District Court following a stipulation to having violated the terms of his probation. On the Contempt, the defendant was sentenced to 5 days in jail.

– Austin John Collins, 31, Sioux City, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 7 days in jail, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Steven Dewayne Kindred, 67, Ogden, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 4 days in jail, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Alexis Miranda Bryan, 27, Boone, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended. On the suspended portion, the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a mental health evaluation with follow through of treatment, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Blayne Joshua Majors, 24, Boone, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 2 days in jail plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Nadezhda Renee Witzke, 24, Des Moines, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Misty Devee Pickens, 49, Boone, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Driving While Revoked, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Lance Jerome Haugen, 43, Colo, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Driving While Revoked, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Kendall Richard Shaw, 30, Boone, was granted a deferred judgment from the Magistrate Court following a trial on the charge of Domestic Abuse Assault. On the deferred, the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a batterer’s education course. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Travis John McNace, 35, Boone, was sentenced by the Magistrate Court following a guilty plea to Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Jenelle Lynn Warren, 43, Boone, was sentenced by the Magistrate Court following a guilty plea to Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Dylan Jay Constant, 32, St. James MO, was sentenced by the Magistrate Court following a guilty plea to Public Intoxication, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Karli Joy Graham, 35, Boone, was sentenced by the Magistrate Court following a guilty plea to Public Intoxication, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
