MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa—Marshalltown Police have released information about a shooting that occurred there early Monday morning. According to the press release, at approximately 3:07 a.m., police officers responded to the Casey’s , located at 111 North 3rd Avenue in Marshalltown, to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival, police officers located an adult male who was suffering from a gunshot wound. That person has died.
Law Enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances that led to this shooting. Law enforcement is seeking an adult, male seen leaving the area wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. The suspect is possibly a Latino male with an accent and is described as being short in stature. No other information about the suspect is known at this time. Information about the victim is being withheld pending family notifications.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with this investigation. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Marshalltown Fire Department and Unity Point Ambulance Service all responded tot he initial 911 calls for this incident.
