BOONE, Iowa—Drought conditions continue to cover over half the state, but Severe Drought conditions over northwest Iowa have lessened to Moderate Drought. Last week, Severe Drought impacted over 12% of the state. This week that has dropped to just over 2%. Moderate Drought was reported over 50% of the state last week, now over 58%.
Locally, Boone County, Story County, Dallas County and portions of Greene, Webster, Hamilton, Polk and Guthrie Counties were Abnormally Dry. The southeastern portion of Polk County is drought free.
