The Madrid boys’ basketball team chalked up its first victory of the season as it beat Southeast Valley, 73-31, on Tuesday, December 3.
The Tigers took an early 17-7 lead after the 1st quarter and led 40-19 at the half.
They were ahead, 62-29, after the 3rd quarter and outscored the Jaguars, 11-2, in the 4th quarter, winning the game, 73-31.
Toryn Severson led the Madrid offense, scoring 30 points on 11 field goals, 4 3-pointers and 4 free throws.
His younger brother, Jevyn Severson, followed with 22 points on 10 field goals and 2 free throws.
Additionally, Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz scored 11 points on 5 field goals and 1 3-pointer.
Emerson Bridgewater had 5 assists while Brody Buck recorded 4 and Ortiz-Alaniz had 3.
For the defense, Jevyn Severson grabbed 11 rebounds and 3 steals, while Bridgewater had 9 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 steals.
Finally, Toryn Severson ended with 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal.
Madrid is 1-0 and the Southeast Valley fell to 0-1.
The Tigers play host to Creston at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5.
