The Boone boys’ basketball team lost to North Polk, 56-47, Friday, February 14, at Boone, in Raccoon River Conference play.
The Comets were ahead, 28-21, at the half, and the Toreadors came back to lead, 39-38, at the end of the 3rd quarter.
However, North Polk scored 18 points to Boone’s 8 in the 4th quarter, and Boone lost the game, 56-47.
Tyson Shivers had another double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds.
He was 7 for 7 on field goals, made 2 free throws and also had 2 assists and 2 steals.
Braden Brooks and Jude Baumgardner added 9 points each on 4 field goals and 1 free throw.
Reid Carr had 8 second-half points and 3 assists.
For the defense, Baumgardner grabbed 7 rebounds and 2 steals, and Brooks had 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
Boone falls to 7-13 overall and 3-13 in the conference with the loss.
North Polk improves to 8-12 overall and 6-10 in the conference with the win.
Boone will host Nevada (17-4) at 7:30 p.m. tonight in non-conference play.
