The Boone Toreadors bounced back in a big way Friday, September 8, steamrolling the Perry Bluejays 48-7 in a non-district matchup at Perry High School.

Boone improved to 1-1 on the season, while Perry fell to 0-2.

Boone wasted no time asserting control, putting up 20 unanswered points in the first quarter.

The Toreadors added 21 more in the second, taking a 41-0 lead into halftime.

By the end of the third quarter, Boone had extended the lead to 48-0 before Perry managed a late touchdown in the fourth.

Quarterback Jude Baumgardner led the charge, going 6-for-10 passing for 110 yards and a touchdown.

He also added 58 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

The Boone rushing attack was led by Maddox McIntyre, who racked up 127 yards on 13 carries and found the end zone four times.

Supporting the ground game were Dayne Brekke (52 yards on 4 carries), Bodie Brogden (13 yards on 2 carries), and Beau Bass (19 yards on 5 carries).

Through the air, Noah Davies led receivers with 3 catches for 37 yards, while Tate Hollenkamp, Maxwell McLaughlin, Dayne Brekke, and Trent Eckard each hauled in one reception.

Defensively, Dayne Garrett anchored the unit with 4.5 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, a sack, and two fumble recoveries.

Noah Davies added 4 tackles, RJ Lennon had 3, and Romero Young contributed 2.5 tackles and an interception.

Brogden and Noel Malin each chipped in with 2 tackles.

Boone will look to carry this momentum into next week’s road game against the undefeated Gilbert Tigers (2-0) on Friday, September 12.
