The Boone cross country teams competed in the Class 3A State Qualifying Meet with the girls’ team placing 4th overall and two runners earning individual state berths Wednesday, October 22 in Pella.
Leading the way was Whitney Chesnut, who placed 11th with a time of 19:54.55, followed closely by Emma Thomas, who finished 15th in 20:08.54.
Both runners qualified for the Class 3A Iowa High School State Cross Country Meet held Friday, October 31, at Fort Dodge.
Other top performances included Briella Johnson in 23rd in 21:16.81 and Reagan Morgan in 26th in 21:36.87
Morgan Chesnut in 22:36.89, Elin Selby in 23:36.77, and Bryana Morgan in 24:25.37 rounded out scoring for Boone.
The Boone boys placed 13th as a team at the Pella meet.
Top finishers included Kamden Lehman in 51st in 18:57.39 and Calvin Cook in 68th in 19:58.79.
Wyatt Johnson in 20:43.07, Owen Hill in 21:16.15, Samuel Chesnut in 22:03.35, and Pearson Lampe in 22:08.64 rounded out the scoring for Boone.
Dorian Myers was on the roster but did not compete.
Season highlights
The girls team had a strong season, highlighted by team titles at the Ogden Invitational and North Polk Invite.
Season-best times included Whitney Chesnut in 19:38.30, Johnson in 20:04.94 and Thomas in 20:07.07
The boys team earned 6th place finishes at both the Humboldt and Ogden meets this season.
Top individual times included Myers in 18:24.70, Cook in 20:03.34 and Lehman in 20:32.06.
