Delos Edward Patzner

BOONE, Iowa—Delos Edward Patzner, 91, of Boone, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.

Delos was born November 15, 1933, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the son of Charles A. and Hilda M. (Althaus) Patzner. He attended the Iowa School for the Deaf and Guttenberg High School.

Delos was united in marriage to Jennie Lee Maisel on January 20, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg. They were blessed with three children; August, Mark, and Virginia.

He worked at Percivals Manufacturing in Boone as a sheet metal worker. He also worked at Ray’s Body Shop.

Delos was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Iowa Deaf Association. He loved hunting and fishing, especially with his kids and grandkids. Delos enjoyed camping and traveling with his family and friends. He also enjoyed helping the Ihm family on their farm.

Christmas and Halloween were his favorite times of the year to fill his home with decorations, and Christmas was by far his favorite.

Delos was always a jokester, “fun” was his motto. He enjoyed playing cards and everyone- including his grandkids- swore that he cheated. Delos never cheated, he was just lucky. His grandkids were his world, and he loved them all dearly.

Delos is survived by a son, Mark Patzner; daughter, Virgina (Wayne) Stadler; five grandchildren, Tyler (Jena), Kiana (Michael), Shayne (Donald), Broc, and Brandi; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Paisley; two sisters-in-law, Grace Patzner and RoseMary Patzner; brother-in-law, Donald Schmitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Delos was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hilda; his wife, Jennie Lee Maisel Patzner; his son, August Patzner; four brothers, LaVern Patzner, Duayne Patzner, Robert Patzner, and Charles Patzner; and sister, Virginia Patzner Schmitt.

His family wishes to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City and St. Croix Hospice.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, October 31, 2025, at 10:30 am, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone, 915 12th Street. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am prior to the Mass. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
