
The Boone boys’ tennis team won two doubles flights as it earned a second‑place team finish at the Boone Invitational Friday, April 10, at McHose Park in Boone.
The Toreadors finished with 136 points, edging past Dallas-Center Grimes by just one point.
North Polk won the meet with 165 points, and Boone finished ahead of Denison and Council Bluffs St. Albert.
Doubles flights
Two Boone doubles flights were champions.
In Flight 2 doubles, Calvin Jordan and Brandon Holm went undefeated.
The duo rolled past Denison, 10‑1, and St. Albert, 10‑1, added a 7‑4 win against North Polk, and closed the day with an 8‑3 victory over DC-G.
Boone claimed another doubles championship in Flight 1 where Braxtan Sproule and Patrick Houser captured the championship after winning three matches.
Sproule and Houser defeated Denison, 6‑5, and North Polk, 6‑5, before earning a 9‑2 victory over St. Albert.
In Flight 3 doubles, Moses Jungck and Silas Jungck earned wins over Denison and St. Albert and lost tight matches to North Polk and DC-G.
Singles flights
In singles competition, Kam Lehman placed third in Flight 3 singles, rebounding from two early losses to win his final two matches.
Lehman defeated his opponent from St. Albert, 7‑4, and his opponent from DC-G, 9‑2.
Sam Chesnut picked up two wins in Flight 2 singles, defeating his opponent from North Polk, 7‑4, and his opponent from St. Albert, 7‑4.
Logan Wickman rounded out the varsity lineup for Boone, competing in Flight 1 singles.

The boys next compete against Independence (1-1) and South Tama County (0-3) in a triangular Thursday at South Tama County High School in Tama.
