
Madrid, Ogden and Boone athletes competed at the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships Thursday, May 21, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Madrid girls’ events
The 4×800-meter relay team of Hannah Brandhorst, Charis Peasley, Madelyn Grothus and Katelyn Brandhorst finished second in 9:48.58.
Individually, Grothus placed fifth in the 3000-meter run (10:13.70).
In the field events, Lauren Dvorak added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (37-1.25).
Paige Richards advanced to the finals in both the 100-meter dash (12.71) and the 200-meter dash (25.50).
Richards also competed in the long jump, placing 23rd (14-11.00).
The Madrid girls also competed in the shuttle hurdle relay with Iyla Fine, Charlotte Schaeller, Ashlyn Burkhardt and Adelyn White, finishing 17th in 1:11.70.
Madrid boys’ events
Jevyn Severson earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put (50-10.00).
Tyler Sonnenfelt placed 10th in the 200 meters (22.61), just missing the finals.
The boys shuttle hurdle relay of Will Atkinson, Jake Sawyer, Chase Perkins and Kinnick Grimm finished 10th in 1:02.43.
The 4×800-meter relay team of Henry Hudnall, Kris Petersn, Cavin Pehl and Caleb Berberich placed 15th (8:28.79).
Boone events
Briella Johnson finished 19th in the 400-meter dash (1:01.49).
Caden Sprecher placed 22nd in the discus (135-1).
Ogden events
Jackson Klith placed 14th in the 200 (22.46) and was disqualified in the 100 due to a false start.
The Ogden girls shuttle hurdle relay of Aubrey Leonard, Mady Benjamin, Paysen Graden, and Alena Wilson took 18th in 1:10.91.
