BOONE, Iowa—Boone Parks Director and Superintendent Mike Cornelis told the Boone City Council last week that Parks staff were busy with storm clean-up from thunderstorms. It’s also meant mowing was not the highest priority. He said they are hoping to start catching up this week.
At the Ledges State Park, Manager Andy Bartlett posted in his digital news letter, that clean up from storm damage was a high priority in the park. Bartlett wrote “Thunderstorms and high wind events brought down limbs and whole trees in different locations around the park. We found time to remove one or two standing dead trees as well that posed a hazard to visitors and their vehicles.”

Summer employee Jack starts the notch to drop this dead elm tree over the parking lot at Lost Lake.

This big Basswood tree uprooted and was hung up across the Lost Lake Trail. Park staff were able to safely take it to the ground and clean it up.
