06/22/26
Officer attempted to contact a property owner that has their sump discharge hose across a sidewalk, limiting handicap accessibility. Officer left a message on their Ring camera and will stop back later when they’re home. The property owner removed the hose later that day.
Officer was dispatched to assist Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol with an accident with injuries located at 280th Street and Highway 17. Officer assisted with traffic control until the scene was secured. Accident is being investigated by Iowa State Patrol.
Officer assisted Boone County Sheriff’s Office with a rollover accident just north of town. Sole occupant was transported to the hospital via EMS for minor injuries.
Officer met with caller at the elementary school to recover a found IPhone, which was then placed into found property at the station for safekeeping. Shortly thereafter, the phone was recovered by its owners using an app designed for tracking.

Officer received a call of a truck broke down in the intersection at 2nd and Main Street. Officer arrived in the area a short time later to find that the vehicle had been removed.
Officer received a call from a Webster County Deputy who requested a copy of an arrest report from 2014. Officer pulled the case file and forwarded the information to the Deputy.
Officer met with a local business owner, and discussed some civil issues that he was going through. Subject also brought up a harassment issue that was occurring. Officer asked for the reporting party to follow-up if the subject continued to contact him and that he would be given a harassment warning.
Officer was requested to assist Boone County Sheriff’s Office with searching for a vehicle associated with someone who was having mental health issues. The driver’s phone initially pinged to the Madrid area, but the vehicle and occupant were ultimately located closer to Boone by a nearby Deputy.

Officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
Officer spoke to a Madrid resident, who was having issues with a fox. She stated that the momma had several young ones around and that they were doing damage and starting to be more aggressive. Officer informed her that if she continues to have issues that he can live trap them and move them to the river.
Officer met with a Boone County Detective and turned over a case for review.
Officer received a complaint of a door-to-door salesman on Fairview Drive. Officer was unable to locate the subject.
Officer spoke to a Madrid resident in reference to a house watch for over the upcoming weekend. Officer will pass the information off to the other officers to keep an eye on.
06/25/26
Officer was dispatched to an emergency medical call in the 600 block of South Green Street. Officer stood-by with the patient until Boone County Ambulance arrived and took over treatment.
Officer spoke to a subject on Southern Prairie Drive in reference to a semi parked there. Officer informed him that the owner lived there and it was parked in front of his home and did not sit for any extended period of time.
Officer assisted a Madrid resident with an issue they had with family members and property.
Officer was called to the 600 block of South Water Street for a door-to-door salesman that was going around without a vendor’s license. Officer made contact with the subject and informed him about the city ordinance and told him that he needed to fulfill all the requirements before he continues.
Officer spoke to two juveniles after seeing them run a stop sign on their scooters by the Post Office. Officer educated them on the laws and safety of operating the scooters in town.
Officer received a report of a juvenile driving a golf cart in reckless manner and speeding. Officer was unable to locate the golf cart.

Officer responded to Kennedy Avenue, for a report of a box truck with its rear door open and black smoke pouring out. Officer was able to catch up to the truck south of town and determined it to be a mechanical issue with the truck and not a fire in the box. The rear door was secured and nothing was amiss. The driver stated he was aware of the mechanical issue and was in route to the shop to have it looked at.
Officer stopped a juvenile on an electric motorcycle that was riding on 2nd street and the sidewalk. The young man believed that his motorcycle was an E-bicycle and therefore legal. The Officer explained that the absence of pedals and the size of the electric motor made it a motorcycle and it was not street or sidewalk legal. Officer later spoke with his mother and gave her the Iowa code section that pertains to the definition and the different classes of E-bikes to help her with picking out a more suitable and legal replacement.
Officer responded to the 400 block of Fairview Drive, on a report of juveniles ringing doorbells and running away. Juveniles were gone upon the arrival of officers.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Kennedy Drive, on a domestic dispute. Officers were able to determine that the two parties were separated for the evening and that no crime had been committed during this disagreement.

Officer and two assisting deputies responded to the Meadow Estates for a medical call.
Officer took the report of an assault at the Madrid police station. Charges were ultimately filed in this case.
Officer assisted with the fund-raising event at the Flat Tire Bar.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue, on an emergency medical call, in the 300 block of South Kennedy Avenue.
Officer assisted with a medical call on Southern Prairie Drive.
06/28/26
Officer received found property and returned it to the owner.
Officer assisted Deputies with attempting to locate an unconscious woman seen in the ditch between Luther and Madrid on 17. The caller did not stop and was very vague as to a location. Officers searched the area on multiple passes, but the subject was no longer there. Officers did locate an item in the ditch that could possibly be confused as a person at highway speed.
Officer was asked to walk through Malachy Church to ensure no one was left in the building prior to locking up, due to a vehicle being left in the parking lot. During this building check, no additional persons were located inside the church.
