BOONE, Iowa—Mayor Dave Casotti issued the following statement today about this year’s very special
Independence Day:
“As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate Independence Day, we have an even greater reason to reflect with gratitude and pride. This year marks the beginning of our nation’s 250th birthday celebration – a historic milestone that invites us to remember the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who founded the United States of America.
“Two hundred and fifty years ago, ordinary citizens embraced an extraordinary idea: that freedom, self-government, and opportunity were worth fighting for. Their determination created a nation that continues to inspire people around the world and has provided generations of Americans the opportunity to build better lives for themselves and their families.
“Here in Boone, we are proud to be part of the exceptional American story. For more than 160 years, Boone has reflected the values that have strengthened our nation – hard work, service to others, community spirit, and optimism about the future. Generations of residents have built homes, businesses, schools, churches, parks, and civic institutions that continue to make Boone a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
“As we celebrate our nation’s past, we also celebrate Boone’s future. Our community is – and will continue to be – a place where people can pursue opportunity and contribute to something larger than themselves. That promise has never been brighter as Boone continues to grow and evolve with projects like the state-of-the-art Daisy Brands dairy processing facility currently under construction while maintaining the small-town values and strong sense of neighborliness that define who we are.
“This Independence Day marks not just a celebration, but the start of America’s 250th birthday year. Over the next 12 months, communities across our nation – including Boone – will have opportunities to reflect on our shared history, honor those who built this country, and recommit ourselves to the principles that unite us. I encourage everyone to make the most of those opportunities.
“On behalf of the Boone City Council and the City of Boone, I wish everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day. Happy 250th birthday, America!”
