
The Boone baseball team scored 12 runs in the first two innings on its way to an 18-6 non-conference baseball victory over Hampton-Dumont-CAL in a five-inning game Thursday, July 2, on the road.
The Toreadors scored seven runs in the first inning and added five more in the second.
Boone also scored two runs in each of the final three innings.
Hampton-Dumont-CAL answered with four runs in the second inning and added single runs in the fourth and fifth.
Ryan Bowers collected two hits, scored twice, drove in four runs and stole a base.
Landon Youngblood finished with one hit, four runs scored and three RBIs, while Tyce Carlson had two runs scored and two RBIs.
Noah Gorman added two hits, two runs scored and one RBI, and Braxton Gifford contributed two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Noah Davies had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
Cole Christeson crossed the plate three times, Oliver Strabley had a hit and scored once, Beau Bass and Henry Wright each scored a run, and Leca Fontanini chipped in an RBI.
Starting pitcher Levi Behn earned the victory, striking out six batters.
Fontanini recorded one strikeout in relief.
Bondurant-Farrar 7, Boone 3
Boone suffered a 7-3 Raccoon River Conference loss to Bondurant-Farrar at Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 1.
Davies had two hits and a stolen base, while Behn added two hits, an RBI and a stolen base.
Christeson collected two hits, Gifford had a hit and scored a run, Carlson and Gorman each recorded a hit, and Lennon finished with a hit and RBI.
Conor Scoggins drove in a run for the Toreadors.
Gifford struck out five batters, while Scoggins recorded four strikeouts in relief and was charged with the loss.
Boone now sits at 15-11 overall and 6-9 in Raccoon River Conference play.
The Toreadors will close out their home schedule and conference slate on Monday, July 6, when they host Winterset (12-14 overall, 5-10 conference) at Memorial Park.
