
Ina Belle Lofy, 97, Boone, Iowa
BOONE, Iowa—Ina Belle Lofy went to be with her Heavenly family on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Ina Belle “Mo”, was born on April 19, 1929 in Clay Center, Kansas to Courtney H. and Inez (Johnson) Bertrand. Ina Belle was known for her strength, her giving spirit and deep love of her family.
Ina Belle enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, sewing and was an avid bowler. She created special occasion clothing and textile pieces for three generations of her family. Her expertise as a seamstress lead to a passion for quilting. During her time at Country Threads Quilt Shop in Garner, IA, she created intricate stitched patterns on quilts from across the U.S. At the closing of the quilt shop, Ina Belle retired at the age of 85. Prior to living in the Clear Lake, IA area, she worked at Bourns and Hach Chemical in Ames, Iowa.
Ina Belle was first married to Lawerence Ray Peterson in 1946. They first lived on the family’s wheat and cattle farm near Morganville, KS. In 1962, they moved their family from Western Kansas to Boone, Iowa. Following Ray’s passing in 1968, she married Richard Lofy in 1972 and relocated to Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Peterson; her second husband, Richard Lofy; her parents, Courtney H. and Inez Bertrand; sisters, Donna Lee Coash and Ann Lutz.
Ina Belle is survived by her brother, Larry (Javine) Bertrand of Minneapolis, KS; her children, Terry L. Peterson of Houston, TX, Deborah (Alan) Arringdale of Boone, and Jeffery Peterson of Boone; grandchildren, Angela (Dave) Schrad, Nicolas (Nicole) Arringdale, Courtney (Kyle Stepp) Arringdale, Cassie (Sam) Reindl, Emma (Mike) VanKat, and Shane Peterson; great-grandchildren, Ajay, Beau and Taylor Arringdale, Landon and Demarie Siegfried, Sam and Rayah Schrad; great-great-grandchildren, Mila Mcloed, Remington Reindl, and Wesley VanKat; and special nieces and nephews.
Following Ina Belle’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services held.
