
The No. 8 Boone boys’ tennis team picked up an important home victory, defeating No. 7 Ballard, 7–4, Tuesday, April 28, at McHose Park.
Boone secured the win by taking three of six singles matches and then turning in a strong performance in doubles play.
In singles competition, Strummer Grout earned a straight‑set win at No. 2 singles, 6–4, 7–6, while Calvin Jordan followed with a 6–3, 6–1 victory at No. 3.
Logan Wickman added another point for Boone with a 6–1, 6–3 win at No. 6 singles.
The Toreadors then pulled away in doubles play, winning four of five matches.
The No. 1 team of Grout and Jordan dominated their match with a 6–3, 6–0 win.
Braxtan Sproule and Patrick Houser also delivered a straight‑set victory at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-3.
No. 3 Brandon Holm and Sam Chesnut won 6-0, 6-2, and No. 5 Moses Jungck and Owen Clark won 6-3, 6-2, to secure the team victory.
No. 4 Logan Wickman and Kam Lehman were edged in third set tiebreaker, 6-4, 5-7, 0-1 (7-10).

Boone will travel to North Polk for a triangular with Des Moines Roosevelt and North Polk Thursday, April 30.
