
Maleah Shivers set a new school record in the shot put as the Boone girls’ track and field team finished fourth at the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Invitational Tuesday, April 28.
Shivers won the shot put with a throw of 41‑3, breaking the record of 40-11 set by teammate Jennifer LaMar earlier this month.
The Toreadors finished with 75 points, and Waukee Northwest won the meet with 185 points.
Host ADM was second with 158 points, and Dallas Center-Grimes placed third with 119 points.
LaMar finished second in the shot put with a throw of 40‑2 and also placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 100-2.
Briella Johnson placed third in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 1:01.22.
Boone’s 4×800-meter relay team of Quinn Houston, Reagan Morgan, Johnson and Finley Houser finished third with a time of 10:40.71.
Taylor Arringdale earned a fourth‑place finish in the long jump, leaping 15‑1.
Avah Hayes finished fourth in the 400‑meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.35.
