
The Boone boys’ tennis team finished third with 14 team points Friday, May 8, at the North Polk Invitational in Alleman.
North Polk claimed the team title with 16.5 points, followed closely by Indianola at 14.5, while Boone beat Southeast Polk to secure the third-place finish.
In singles action, Patrick Houser finished third overall.
Houser opened the tournament with a hard-fought 10–7 win over SEP before dropping a close semifinal match, 10–8, to Indianola.
Braxtan Sproule also competed in singles, placing fourth overall.
Sproule started the day strong with a 10–1 victory over SE Polk but later fell to Indianola and finished the tournament with an injury default.
The doubles team of Strummer Grout and Calvin Jordan finished second overall.
Grout and Jordan opened with back-to-back 10–3 wins over Indianola and North Polk teams before falling to North Polk other team.
Another Boone doubles team, Brandon Holm and Logan Wickman, placed fourth overall.
The pair earned an opening-round 10–2 victory over Indianola before facing tough matches against two North Polk teams to close out the invitational.

The Toreadors will travel to Fort Dodge Tuesday, May 12, for a triangular with Nevada and Fort Dodge.
