
The Boone girls’ tennis team posted consecutive 11-0 victories, first sweeping Marshalltown before beating Des Moines Hoover Tuesday, September 1, at Marshalltown.
“It was another great day of tennis, winning every match we played,” said head coach Shawn Latimer.
Against Marshalltown, Maiya Phanchantraurai led the way with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 singles, while Kaylee Kuehl posted an 8-1 win at No. 2.
Livi Schneider and Harper Kuehl each earned 8-0 victories, while Claire Hardinger and Olivia Conlin added 8-1 wins as Boone once again swept singles play.
Phanchantraurai and Hardinger won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while sisters Kaylee Kuehl and Harper Kuehl cruised to an 8-1 victory at No. 2.
The duo of Rozzie Stevenson and Michaella Anderson delivered an 8-0 shutout, and Boone also received victories from the teams of Halle Bailey and Sarah Owen at No. 4 and Rylee Eatock and Emma Peebler at No. 5.
Against Des Moines Hoover, Kaylee Kuehl, Hardinger, Conlin, and Anderson all earned 8-0 victories in singles play, while Harper Kuehl and senior Rozzie Stevenson each recorded 8-1 wins.
The Toreadors were just as commanding in doubles competition.
The pairs of Conlin and Schneider and Stevenson and Anderson each won 8-0.
Boone also received 8-1 victories from the teams of Bailey and Owen, Eatock and Peebler, and Amelia Thompson and Jessica Nduwimana to complete the shutout.
“It was nice to be able to move some of our JV into the varsity lineup and give them that experience,” Latimer said.
The Toreadors (8-1) will travel to Huxley to face Ballard (6-2) Thursday, September 10.
