In a tight contest, the Boone softball team was held scoreless in a 2–0 loss to Newton Tuesday, June 9, at Gary Creasman Field.
Boone managed just three hits in the game with Claire Hardinger leading the offense with two hits.
Brooke Weisbrod added the other hit for Boone.
Weisbrod also pitched a complete game with four strikeouts.
With the win, Newton improves to 8–7 on the season, while Boone drops to 6–5.
The Toreadors are back in action tonight on the road against No. 9 North Polk (5–7).
