Boone Police Chief John Wiebold is on the program and reviews some of the data from 2024. He noted the number of arrests have declined, while the number of calls were up in the past year. He said the big increase appears to be more calls for medical assistance. He also announced that signup will begin today for the Boone Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy. Dr. Julie Trepa, Superintendent, Boone Community School District talks about the recent Boone School Board meeting. The Board did set the public hearing date for the school calendar for the 25-26 school year. The proposed calendar would begin August 25th and end on June 2nd. There would be no early outs on Wednesdays. The board also approved moving ahead with YSS on an early intervention program to deal with vaping concerns among students.
